The Department of Molecular Genetics in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto (St. George campus) invites applications for a three-year contractually limited term appointment (CLTA) at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream in the areas of Molecular Biology, Genetics, and Microbiology. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, with an anticipated start date of January 1st, 2026 and end on December 31st, 2028.

Candidates are expected to have earned a PhD in the broad area of Molecular Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Virology, or related fields, with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching. We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and enhance our existingdepartmental strengths. Candidates must have teaching experience in degree granting programs at the undergraduate level, including lecture preparation and delivery, teaching lab facilitation, course coordination, curriculum assessment and development, and the development of online teaching materials and lectures. Candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical practices and a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities. A clear demonstration of experience in teaching Microbiology and Virology at the undergraduate level, as well as coordinating and facilitating undergraduate teaching labs specifically in the areas of Microbiology and Virology would be an asset, and is highly preferred. Extended pedagogical training would be an asset, as would relevant post-doctoral training in the areas of Microbiology and / or Virology.

Evidence of excellence in teaching and a commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, formal teaching evaluations and assessments, the teaching dossier submitted as a part of the application (with required materials outlined below) as well as strong letters of reference from referees of high standing. Candidates are also expected to show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment demonstrated through the application materials.

The successful candidate will undertake undergraduate and potentially graduate teaching responsibilities, and will have a key role in the laboratory, microbiology, and virology undergraduate training programs within our Department.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
