As an Building Operator, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facility.
As an Building Operator, you will:
- Inspect the building regularly to ensure all systems and equipment function correctly and efficiently.
- Monitor system performance to identify and address potential issues.
- Maintain and perform minor repairs to electrical and mechanical systems, UPS, generators, HVAC, Fire Alarm and critical infrastructure.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Escort/Supervise Mechanical/electrical Vendors onsite.
- Keep accurate maintenance records and ensure compliance with standards and policies.
- Interact with the BMS and CMMS computer systems.
- Follow all safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and support staff for seamless operations.
- Be prepared for emergencies, providing expertise to minimize disruptions.
- Improve operational procedures and implement best practices for data center efficiency and reliability.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2-3 years experience working in mission-critical facilities (e.g., data centres).
- Experienced in working with critical facilities in both union and non-union environments.
- Strong understanding of electrical/mechanical systems, UPS, generators, HVAC; Fire Alarm Systems.
- BES and relevant certifications are a plus.
- Proven ability to promptly and effectively troubleshoot technical issues.
- Detail-oriented, ensuring optimal system function and thorough maintenance documentation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks (lifting heavy equipment, working in confined spaces).
Work Conditions:
- Location: Markham, ON
- Rotating shifts (10 hours each), including days, afternoons, and nights
- $30-$38/hour (open to renegotiation based on experience).
