Now Hiring: Mechanical Technician (Building Operator)
Location : Mississauga, ON
Duration : 1-Year Contract Monday-Friday 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician (Building Operator) to support day-to-day facility and infrastructure operations for a leading organization's R&D environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on technician with strong mechanical, HVAC, and building systems experience who can work independently and keep critical systems running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Start up HVAC and R&D equipment each morning, including fume hoods, exhaust fans, solvent pumps, RO water systems, compressed gas cylinders, and unit ACs.
- Conduct daily building rounds to monitor IAQ and overall HVAC performance.
- Perform minor HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting (filters, belts, pumps, valves, water treatment).
- Operate and monitor Building Automation Systems (BAS).
- Respond to work orders promptly and provide general building support.
- Maintain and monitor tank levels for onsite solvent tanks.
- Support chiller plant operations, building automation, and piping-related work.
- Act as an active member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT).
- Coordinate with contractors as needed.
Qualifications
- 4th Class Power Engineer certification preferred; BES certificate accepted.
- Experience operating steam boilers and maintaining steam plant equipment.
- Strong background in facility, infrastructure, or building operations.
- Ability to work independently-no onsite infrastructure supervisor.
- Must be available for on-call support.
Work Environment
- Fully onsite (no remote option).
- Standard shift: 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
- Fast-paced R&D facility environment requiring strong ownership and reliability.
