Reporting to the Dean, Education, Inuit and University Studies, the Chair, Education Programs is responsible for the planning, direction, management, program delivery, administration and evaluation of the Nunavut Teacher Education Program (NTEP) and Early Childhood Education Programs (ECE). The Chair is a member of the College’s Management Team and shares in the collective decision-making process respecting strategic planning and college-wide initiatives.

Other Key Responsibilities Of The Position Include


  • Providing leadership, coaching, and oversight to all program staff, fostering a collaborative and results-driven team environment;
  • Managing financial resources allocated to Education programs, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with strategic goals;
  • Ensuring all course instruction adhered to the professional and academic standards set by the College, promoting quality and consistency in delivery;
  • Providing mechanisms for student/client evaluation and feedback for all programs; and
  • Representing NAC in meetings with partner institutions.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through the completion of a university degree in Education or Education Administration. A master’s degree in a field related to education programming is preferred. Five years of progressive experience working in an educational setting and exposure to the following areas: managing educational program delivery, early childhood education, curriculum development, instructing students, financial and human resources management, and policy and procedure development/implementation with two years of experience supervising and developing staff in an educational setting. Professional Teaching Credentials would be considered an asset.



The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in English is required for the position. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
