The<br />Chemical Engineer will provide expertise to ensure chemical formulations and processes are efficient, the<br />quality of the product is consistently high, and the environmental impact is minimized. The incumbent is a<br />driven individual with a desire for problem solving; and is able to navigate complex challenges, and<br />promoting effective solutions independently.<strong>Key Duties & Responsibilities:</strong><ul><li>Ensure Controlled operation of processing units is functioning as per industry standards, reliable, robust and are optimized.</li><li>Support the Compounding area of the business, review and implement process control strategies, monitor GMP compliance, equipment capabilities, and ensure equipment maintenance and calibration are performed as per industry standards.</li><li>Onboarding of new formulations and ensuring they are delivered to the packaging equipment on time and within specification.</li><li>Accurate and timely documentation of all requirements under provincial regulations</li><li>Working with the Compounding Manager, ensure CIP systems parameters are respected (Flow, Temperature, Conductivity, Time) on consistent basis. Apply corrective and preventative actions to maintain sustainability.</li><li>Working with the Plant Manager, and Quality Manager to root cause and implement corrective and preventative measures.</li><li>Continuous Improvement tasks include identification of loss and waste, establish and implement sustainability <span >process/practices/measures</span> to facilitate benchmarking activities (e.g. OOS investigations, tracking, identify variances and resolution requirements).</li><li>Responsible for cost management as it relates to the scope of the position – not limited to standardization, utilities, chemical consumption, batch yields and waste.</li><li>Improve efficiencies in batch timing, batch accuracy, reduce opportunities for batch failure, or correction.</li><li>Work with R&D Departments during trial runs of new formulations to ensure manufacturability.</li><li>Investigate and lead new capital projects that support cost savings, improve efficiencies, improve ergonomics and capacity</li><li>Investigate new automation opportunities</li><li>Champion best in class or new technologies and implement in the compounding department.</li><li>Support and maintain GMPs, environmental, legislative, quality and safety standards.</li></ul><strong>Qualifications & Experience:</strong><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering</li><li>5+ Years of experience in chemical engineering in a manufacturing environment</li><li>Continuous improvement and troubleshooting skills, error proofing processes</li><li>Understanding process components: material flow, pumps, motor loads</li><li>Experience in food or chemical production a plus</li><li>Technical writing skills for work instructions, SOPs, etc.</li><li>Ability to design using CAD software</li><li>HACCP, GMP experience</li><li>Asset management (cradle to grave) expertise</li><li>Ability to work and influence cross functionally to achieve common goals.</li><li>Proven success supporting GMPs, environmental, legislative (federal and provincial), quality and safety standards.</li></ul><strong>We offer:</strong><ul><li>A competitive compensation package.</li><li>An excellent company-paid benefit package including health, dental, life, a matching group RRSP, skills development, and training reimbursement.</li><li>The opportunity to be part of a fast-growing, dynamic, and successful global team.
