With a focus on long-term growth, operational excellence, and wealth preservation, the organization manages a range of assets including construction, real estate, and private company operations.<br/>As part of their ongoing growth, they are seeking an experienced Controller to lead financial operations across multiple entities. This newly created role will serve as a key strategic partner to ownership—managing accounting processes, overseeing reporting and controls, and providing insights that support investment and business decisions.<br/>This opportunity is ideal for a CPA or senior accounting professional with experience in family office, real estate, or construction environments who enjoys a hands-on, multi-entity role that combines both tactical accounting and strategic financial leadership.</p>
<p>This is an onsite role daily.</p>
<p><b>Reporting to:</b> Family Principals</p>
<p>The <b>Controller</b> will manage all aspects of financial reporting and analysis for the group of companies, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and accuracy across various operating and investment entities.</p>
<p><b>Key Responsibilities:</b></p>
<p><b>Family Office & Multi-Entity Accounting</b></p>
<li>Oversee full-cycle accounting for holding companies, operating businesses, and investment partnerships</li>
<li>Manage intercompany transactions, consolidations, and equity allocations across multiple entities</li>
<li>Ensure timely month-end and year-end closes, including preparation of financial statements under ASPE or IFRS</li> <p><b>Construction Management Finance</b></p>
<li>Handle accounting and financial oversight for residential and commercial development projects</li>
<li>Review WIP schedules, progress billings, and ensure accurate revenue and cost recognition</li>
<li>Monitor project budgets, cash flow, and financing requirements to support timely project completion</li>
<li>Manage lender draw requests, cost-to-complete analyses, and compliance with loan agreements</li> <p><b>Cash Flow & Treasury</b></p>
<li>Monitor and forecast cash flow across all entities, including distributions, investments, and capital calls</li>
<li>Manage banking relationships and optimize liquidity strategies</li> <p><b>Reporting & Analysis</b></p>
<li>Prepare consolidated financial and management reports for ownership</li>
<li>Support tax planning and compliance in coordination with external advisors</li>
<li>Oversee HST/GST filings and ensure accurate ITC recovery</li> <p><b>Strategic Planning & Advisory</b></p>
<li>Support evaluation of new investments, acquisitions, and capital projects through financial modeling and ROI analysis</li>
<li>Provide insights on cost optimization, risk management, and long-term financial planning</li> <p><b>Team Leadership & Controls</b></p>
<li>Supervise and mentor accounting staff; establish scalable systems and internal controls</li>
<li>Implement best practices for financial governance and reporting standards</li> <p>TMGMS</p> <p><p><b>Job Requirements:</b></p></p> <li>CPA designation preferred (or equivalent experience)</li>
<li>5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience</li>
<li>Experience in family office, real estate, or construction industries</li>
<li>Strong working knowledge of ASPE and IFRS; tax planning experience an asset</li>
<li>Advanced proficiency in Excel; ERP experience (NetSuite, Odoo, or similar) preferred</li>
<li>Excellent communication skills with the ability to work discreetly with high-net-worth stakeholders</li>
<li>Proven analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills in a fast-paced, evolving environment</li>
<li>Experience with construction financing and lender relations is strongly preferred</li> Apply
