We are partnering with a growing company in the packaging automation industry that delivers high-speed, end-of-line solutions such as conveyors, case packers, cartoners, palletizers, bagging, and pouch packaging systems. Backed by strong financial support and poised for significant growth, the company is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead and scale a multidisciplinary team of mechanical and controls engineers.

About the Role:

A Director of Engineering to lead and scale a multidisciplinary team of mechanical and controls engineers.

Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and direction for the mechanical design and controls engineering teams.
• Implement project management discipline across engineering, ensuring timelines, budgets, and deliverables are consistently met.
• Drive standardization in design processes, quality control, and peer review.
• Collaborate with sales and proposals teams to support quoting, system design, and customer presentations.
• Partner with production, assembly, and service teams to ensure smooth execution and commissioning of equipment.
• Lead recruitment, mentorship, and professional development of engineers as the team expands.
• Contribute technical expertise in conveyors, case packing, cartoning, palletizing, and integrated systems.
• Act as a key liaison with customers, providing technical leadership and ensuring alignment with client requirements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
• Minimum 10+ years of experience in packaging automation, with at least 5 years in engineering leadership (Engineering Manager, Director, or equivalent).
• Strong background in high-speed packaging equipment (case packing, cartoning, conveyors, palletizing, bagging, filling, etc.).
• Proficiency in SolidWorks; experience with Autodesk Inventor is an asset.
• Familiarity with Allen-Bradley controls integration and electrical design is preferred.
• Proven ability to build and manage engineering teams, implement processes, and deliver large-scale projects.
