for one of our reputable clients in Oakville ON.As a Direct Support Worker, you will assist our clients with all aspects of personal care, and developmental needs and help them live more safely and independently. The successful candidate should be patient, compassionate, and client-centric.

Job Responsibilities: Providing individualized and/or crisis support to children, youth and adults diagnosed with ASD (autism), Developmental Disability, Mental Health Disorder and/or Dual Diagnosis. Provide one on one support to a client in a variety of different settings such as foster homes, family homes, day programs, hospitals, group homes, and community support. Transport clients to and from appointments and activities with their personal vehicles. Providing care services to clients inaccordance with group home plans; these care services include, but are not limited to, helping with activities of daily living, bathing assistance, feeding, grooming, continence care, etc. Engage and build relationships with youth and families by demonstrating interest in the individual, positive reinforcement for behaviours and building self-esteem. Monitoring and overseeing the general health and well-being of the client. Model and teach skills to a client that support safety and life skills. Encourage participation in activity programs. De-escalate and stabilize a client when in a state of crisis and/or presenting with high-risk behaviours. Ensure that administrative duties are completed within required timeframes, such as shift and incident reports, medication logs, communication logs, sign in and out logs, and expense and mileage reports. Performs domestic duties (i.e., meal prep, mopping, laundry, cleaning of bathroom and kitchen, etc.) Participate in case conferencing as required Administer medications when required. Other responsibilities as assigned.
Job Qualifications:Work Experience
- 1+ years of relevant experience working as a Child Youth Worker or Developmental support worker
- Previous experience supporting persons of various ages, abilities, and complex behaviours.
- Degree or Diploma in Social / Human Services(Child & Youth Work, Developmental Services Work)
Certification
- DSW/CYW/SSW/CSW Diploma/Certificate
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check < 6 months & proof of a Broad Record Check (BRC) Application
- Standard First Aid CPR (Class C) certificate
- Drivers license (G Mandatory)
- Two doses of Covid 19 Vaccination
- Safe management Certificate
- Medical Administration/Pharmacology training Certificate
Language Skills
- Ability to communicate in English
- Ability to read medical prescriptions and complete Incident Report Form
Transferable Skills
- Ability to accommodate and take On-Call & weekend shifts as required*
- Ability to comply with standard policies/ procedures and ensure safe work practices
- Eligible Candidates must be flexible in terms of scheduling and have a can-do attitude
