We are now looking for a Food Scientist to join our growing team in Toronto.


About the role

Reporting to the R&D Director, the Food Scientist will play a key role in the design, development, and optimization of new food products and processes. This role offers the perfect mix of creativity and science, hands-on experimentation, and strategic thinking.


What you’ll do

  • Lead and coordinate R&D projects in line with company priorities.
  • Develop new formulations and improve existing products.
  • Conduct lab and production trials to ensure scalability, quality, and compliance.
  • Characterize product properties and solve technical challenges with innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to discover and qualify new ingredients and concepts.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data to drive decision-making.
  • Ensure product specifications meet client needs, cost targets, and deadlines.
  • Guarantee compliance with food safety, nutrition, and labeling regulations.
  • Identify emerging technologies and trends to keep Solina ahead of the curve.


What we’re looking for

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science & Technology, Chemistry, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in food R&D, ideally with dehydrated or liquid products and project management experience (asset).
  • Skills:
  • Strong formulation and product testing knowledge.
  • Creative thinker with a scientific mindset.
  • Structured, organized, and results-oriented.
  • Bilingual: French and English (spoken and written).
  • Other: Flexibility to travel occasionally.
