Their products demand world-class engineering execution, and they are known for hiring highly skilled professionals across hardware, optics, imaging, and software disciplines.</p><p>They foster a culture built on collaboration, technical excellence, continuous improvement, and empowering their teams to push the boundaries of what’s possible.</p><hr /><strong>Role Overview</strong><p>The Hardware Manager (Electrical Engineering) plays a key leadership role within the Product Development group, overseeing both the technical direction and day-to-day execution of the electrical design team. This position combines hands-on circuit design with people leadership—typically a <strong>60% technical / 40% management split</strong>.</p><p>The successful candidate ensures that all electrical and electronic subsystems meet stringent performance, reliability, and quality standards for high-precision, globally deployed technology products.</p><hr /><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong><strong>Leadership & Team Development</strong><ul><li><p>Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Electrical Engineers and PCB Designers.</p></li><li><p>Assign work, set priorities, and guide technical decisions.</p></li><li><p>Participate in headcount planning, budgeting, and long-term product strategies.</p></li></ul><strong>Hands-On Technical Design (60%)</strong><ul><li><p>Design and test electronics including schematics and PCB layouts.</p></li><li><p>Drive advanced digital and analog design for high-performance systems.</p></li><li><p>Collaborate with optical, mechanical, firmware, and software teams on system-level integration.</p></li></ul><strong>Product Development & Sustaining</strong><ul><li><p>Support global product launches and ensure all systems meet certification and regulatory standards.</p></li><li><p>Oversee sustaining engineering for existing product lines.</p></li><li><p>Evaluate alternative designs to meet performance, cost, and supply-chain constraints.</p></li></ul><strong>Process, Documentation & Vendor Management</strong><ul><li><p>Maintain design documentation, specs, BOMs, and review packages.</p></li><li><p>Work with global suppliers to ensure compliance with specifications.</p></li><li><p>Drive continuous improvements in the electrical development process.</p></li></ul><strong>Cross-Functional Collaboration</strong><ul><li><p>Help Procurement, Operations, Quality, Field Service, and Installation teams troubleshoot and resolve issues.</p></li><li><p>Address global component shortages, obsolescence, and supply-chain challenges.</p></li><li><p>Support lab and field safety programs, including high-voltage and optical safety considerations.</p></li></ul><hr /><strong>Key Challenges</strong><ul><li><p>Balancing hands-on engineering with team leadership.</p></li><li><p>Ensuring compliance across global certification and regulatory requirements.</p></li><li><p>Managing component obsolescence and global supply-chain volatility.</p></li><li><p>Prioritizing effectively in a fast-moving, multi-stakeholder environment.</p></li><li><p>Maintaining safety and reliability in high-power and high-brightness systems.</p></li></ul><hr /><strong>What You Bring</strong><ul><li><p><strong>7–10+ years</strong> in electrical design for complex consumer or industrial hardware.</p></li><li><p><strong>3+ years</strong> leading engineering teams.</p></li><li><p><strong>5+ years</strong> of schematic/PCB design (Altium or equivalent).</p></li><li><p>Strong experience in <strong>advanced digital design</strong>; analog preferred.</p></li><li><p>Skilled with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, SPICE, and validation tools.</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of thermal design; simulation experience is an asset.</p></li><li><p>Experience with global regulatory certification.</p></li><li><p>Excellent documentation, communication, and time-management skills.</p></li><li><p>P.Eng is highly desirable.</p></li><li><p>Experience with any of the following is a plus:</p><ul><li><p>Video/image processing (FPGA/GPU pipelines)</p></li><li><p>Image compression standards</p></li><li><p>Component obsolescence tools</p></li><li><p>High-power laser or optical systems</p></li><li><p>Embedded software fundamentals</p></li></ul></li></ul></p></p></p>
