Contract Immigration Paralegal (Canada – Remote)
Location: Remote (Canada-based)

Compensation: Flat fee per assignment or hourly (rates determined based on experience and expertise)

About the Role
Our client, a Canada-based immigration law firm, is seeking an experienced Contract Immigration Paralegal to support employer-driven and business immigration matters on a flexible, assignment-based basis. This role is ideal for a senior paralegal with strong drafting skills and hands-on experience managing complex Canadian immigration applications independently.
The position is fully remote and open to candidates located anywhere in Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, draft, and manage Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) applications, including:
- High-Wage and Low-Wage streams
- Global Talent Stream (Category A & B)
- Employer Compliance documentation
- Recruitment efforts and advertising compliance
- Draft and support ICT (Intra-Company Transfer) and other LMIA-exempt work permit applications, including:
- CUSMA/NAFTA Professionals
- Significant Benefit (C10)
- Entrepreneurs / Owner-Operators
- Global Mobility Program work permits
- Prepare employer support letters, submissions, and legal-style narratives for writing-intensive applications for lawyer review
- Coordinate documentation from employers and foreign workers to ensure accuracy
- Review applications for completeness, consistency, and regulatory compliance under lawyer supervision
- Track deadlines and manage multiple assignments simultaneously
- Communicate professionally with legal counsel and clients as required
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience working with Canadian LMIAs
- Demonstrated experience supporting manufacturing and/or technology sector employers
- Strong working knowledge of IRCC and ESDC/Service Canada requirements
- Experience preparing writing-intensive applications (e.g., ICTs, significant benefit cases)
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent written English skills with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a remote, contract-based environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with:
- Global Talent Stream (GTS) LMIAs
- Employer compliance reviews and audits
- Work permit extensions and amendments
- Permanent residence streams tied to employer support (e.g., Express Entry, PNP employer-driven cases)
- Familiarity with compliance-heavy industries and regulated employers
- Prior experience working with immigration law firms or boutique practices
- Knowledge of common pitfalls and risk factors in LMIA and ICT applications
- Ability to suggest process improvements or efficiencies

Compensation & Flexibility
- Paid on a flat-fee, per-assignment basis or hourly
- Fees will be mutually agreed upon based on level of experience, subject-matter expertise, and complexity of work
- Flexible workload with the potential for recurring assignments
