Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Commercial Lines Underwriter to join their team! The ideal candidate must have at least 5 years of progressive experience in Commercial Lines underwriting at MGA.
Location: Hybrid in Ontario
Responsibilities
- Review & apply pricing, terms & conditions to new & renewal business.
- Maintain and grow existing relationships with key retail producing brokers.
- Develop out new broker relationships, including broker visits & discussions
- Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes to inform underwriting strategies and decision
- Participate in industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance market presence and build professional relationships
Requirements
- 5+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience
- Prior working experience with MGA is preferred
- Level 1 General Insurance license
- A (CIP) or equivalent or working towards a designation is preferred
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong underwriting acumen, effective communication, and negotiation skills
