Join our collaborative logistics team at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Logistics Coordinator. You'll contribute to ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of materials to customers worldwide. Working in an international environment, you'll coordinate complex shipments, manage export documentation, and collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to maintain our high standards of service excellence.

In this position, you'll be responsible for organizing and overseeing transport operations, selecting optimal shipping solutions, and ensuring compliance with international trade regulations. You'll work closely with internal teams, logistics providers, and customs authorities to coordinate deliveries while maintaining cost efficiency and meeting deadlines. This role offers opportunities to contribute to improvement initiatives and develop expertise in global logistics operations. Primary responsibility is to ensure the highest level of quality order fulfillment through order receipt to product delivery of Thermo Fisher products.

A Day in the Life:

  • Ensure shipping documents are prepared correctly and maintained as per Thermo Fisher Scientific record retention policy.
  • Work with internal and external community to coordinate orders and shipments.
  • Coordinate bookings with forwarders and carriers to arrange for domestic, international, and warehouse transfer shipments according to shipping requirements.
  • Prepare and process required export documentation including but not limited to commercial invoices, export declaration, certificates of origin and/or CUSMA, bills of lading, and advanced ship notices.
  • Determine the eligibility of various Free Trade Agreements.
  • Create and maintain shipping schedules.
  • Partner with the necessary internal departments to facilitate smooth processing of daily operations, respond to customer needs, and manage any expedites.
  • Use the inventory management system and other necessary systems to complete all transactions.
  • Determine and maintain tariff classifications database for exported goods.
  • Follow well defined procedures as outlined by Best Practices, SOP's & work instructions.
  • Participate and adopt Practical Process Improvement (PPI) methodologies to continually improve processes.
  • Monitor, maintain and operate CBSA websites and tools (i.e. CERS, HS Tariff Schedule, etc.)
  • Actively participate in (CBSA) Customs, and internal Audits and other major projects as required.
  • Maintain the integrity and security of the supply chain.
  • Act as the Export Coordinator for trade compliance activities.
  • Conduct restricted party screening of business partners.
  • Review and comply with the requirements of the Company's Global Trade Compliance Policy and the Global Trade Compliance Management System.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Keys to Success:

• Minimum 2 years experience in a related field.


• High school diploma/General Educational Development (GED) certificate is required.


• Relevant logistics certifications (IATA, ADR) preferred or willingness to obtain.

• Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (SAP) and Microsoft Office.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

• Experience coordinating with freight forwarders and managing shipping documentation.

• Ability to work independently and make decisions within defined procedures.

• Experience in the pharmaceutical industry an asset.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Experience preparing customs documentation and managing export controls.

• Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

• Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance standards.

Compensation

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Canada is $46,600.00–$69,850.00.
