As a Material Handler at Ryerson, you will be responsible for day-to-day staging, packing, and picking material for shipments using proper equipment. In addition, you will use various warehouse equipment such as forklift's to put away stock.
This position is on a rotating shift. The hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 2:00pm - 10:00pm for two weeks, then rotate to 6:00am - 2:00pm for two weeks.
Roles and Responsibilities
Picking and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders
Breaking down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders
Packaging of material to customer requirements
Operating a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material as needed
Proper completion of paperwork and SAP work order confirmation for shipping/receiving on the computer
Maximum productivity for finished goods creation
All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent is required
Minimum 1-3 years of experience in material handling is required, preferably in the metal processing/distribution industry
Tow motor, forklift and overhead crane experience is an asset
Must demonstrate basic math and measuring aptitude
Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer
Safety conscious and strong knowledge of health and safety procedures
