Job Title: Payroll and Benefits Specialist

About the role:
The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for supporting the HR team. The successful candidate will be accountable for supporting the team in the following areas:
Main responsibilities include:
Enforce strong payroll controls and validation procedures to ensure compliance with eligibility rules, premiums, and overtime payments
Review timesheets, approvals, and supporting documentation for accuracy before payroll submission
Research payroll discrepancies
Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried, union and non-union employees
Maintain accurate payroll and time & attendance records
Support period-end and year-end reconciliations and reporting, including T4s, WSIB, and audit support
Coordinate benefits administration, including enrollments, eligibility, premiums, and reconciliations
About the candidate:
- 5+ years' experience in a similar role
- Experience and proficiency using Payroll systems, specifically ADP Workforce Now -
- PCP (payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation is a strong asset
