Windsor Regional Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in Ontario, serving a population of about 400,000 people in Windsor and Essex County. The hospital provides acute care services and operates two campuses. WRH has over 4300 employees, 550 professional staff, 400 volunteers, and more than 150 medical school students and resident physicians. WRH is the regional provider of advanced care and provides the following services for the entire former Erie St. Clair LHIN: Complex Trauma, Renal Dialysis, Cardiac Care, Stroke and Neurosurgery Intensive Care, Acute Mental Health, Family Birthing Centre, Neonatal Intensive Care, Paediatric services, and Regional Cancer Services.
Role and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will provide inspirational and visionary leadership during a time of transformational change at the Windsor Regional Hospital. Executing on a new strategic plan and ensuring the highest quality of care is delivered to patients and families, the CEO will have responsibility for the overall operations and financial management of the organization, while planning for the future.
A true leader of people, the new CEO will live WRH’s values of compassion, accountability, respect and excellence. The CEO will leverage the strengths of an engaged senior leadership team and will foster positive relationships with employees, professional staff and volunteers across all hospital sites.
The new CEO will be a highly visible champion for WRH, possessing exceptional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and build positive relationships with the Ministry of Health, Ontario Health, and other key partners and stakeholders. The new CEO will build upon the successful initiatives that have earned WRH’s reputation as an innovative community health care leader and a partner of choice.
With a record of accomplishment at an executive level, ideally in a complex health care environment, the new CEO will be a collaborative and dynamic leader with proven abilities to lead in a growth organization. Possessing political acumen and financial sophistication, the new CEO will also demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility initiatives, with a deep respect for the lived experience of patients and families. Academic preparation at the Master’s level (or equivalent) is required. Bilingualism (French/English) is preferred.
Qualifications and Attributes
• Executive leadership experience, preferably in a complex health care environment
• Strong strategic thinking, financial acumen, and a track record of implementing growth initiatives
• Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility
• Ability to engage with and influence a broad range of stakeholders including government partners
• Master’s level academic preparation (or equivalent); bilingualism in French and English is preferred
