The Quality role supports the organization by promoting compliance with the companys Quality Management System and ensuring work is planned, executed, and documented to required standards. This position is responsible for developing technical procedures, inspection and test plans, and client turnover documentation, while working closely with cross-functional teams to support day-to-day operations and major shutdowns or turnarounds.
Responsibilities
- Promote and oversee compliance with the Blackstone Quality Management System across Field and Engineering teams
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality processes that support manufacturing, maintenance, and field activities
- Create and maintain technical procedures, custom Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and client turnover documentation
- Write, review, revise, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and maintenance protocols
- Develop inspection procedures and technical documentation for plant maintenance activities, including equipment overhauls, shutdowns and turnarounds, preventive and predictive maintenance, pressure testing, welding, coating, and integrity management
- Design, validate, and implement custom in-process inspection and testing plans
- Define testing requirements, hold points, acceptance criteria, and verification activities
- Support quality and compliance through pressure and leak testing, non-destructive examination (NDE), functional testing, and inspection of manufactured and repaired equipment
- Compile, review, and approve client turnover dossiers, maintenance packages, and integrity records
- Ensure documentation meets regulatory, client, and third-party requirements, including API compliance, audits, and insurance submissions
- Maintain strong documentation control, traceability, and adherence to Good Documentation Practices
- Work closely with Field Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Procurement, and external clients or contractors to resolve quality planning issues, address non-conformances, and support major shutdowns and turnarounds
- Lead business units in the development, implementation & maintenance of Quality processes
- Leads quality assurance projects and activities in accordance with customer, ISO, and regulatory standards.
- Maintains quality management system documentation through collaborative creation/editing, distribution and control
- Coordinate with the production teams and leaders in the development of project quality work procedures
- Assist the quality team with the internal & external audits as per industry standards
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives through participation and/or initiation of focused improvement activities
- Utilize AutoCAD software to create and modify technical drawings, and to analyze and optimize maintenance workflows
- Support the production team in the investigation of product nonconformities to eliminate the cause of deviations in a corrective action format
- Ensure all quality records are being maintained and updated on a regular basis
- Experience in a Metrology Lab
- Audit, Generate/coordinate sub-contracted products and processes
- Audit, perform, and record inprocess, firstoff, inspections at all stations to established internal or customer standards.
- Audit, generate NonConformance Reports (NCR), and review for trends and opportunities for improvement
- Audit/ensure all measuring instruments are sound and calibrated to established internal/documented standards.
- Develop written work practices, implement, and train others and implement
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing quality; Six Sigma or other analytical experience preferred
- Technical college diploma or university degree
- Strong understanding of the manufacture, installation, and repair of critical rotating equipment
- Advanced computer skills, including the ability to work with technical documentation and data systems
- Experience in a Machine Shop environment
- Proficiency in AutoCAD software, with the ability to create and modify technical drawings and schematics
- A solid understanding of ISO9001 and other quality management system requirements
- Able to understand engineering drawings
- Strong understanding of quality control processes and procedures, including root cause analysis, corrective action, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Ability to analyze problems/opportunities for efficiencies and make recommendations for improvements
- Knowledge of performance measurement methods and statistical analysis
- Expert in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments in a demanding environment
