School: Del Van Gorder School, Faro, YT Position: Teacher (Permanent) FTE: 1.0 Assignment: Physical Education K-12, High School Start Date: August 19, 2024 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience: • Bachelor of Education or equivalent; • Teaching experience or pre-service practicum experience and/or qualifications in teaching Physical Education at different levels from kindergarten to high school; • Secondary teaching experience or pre-service practicum teaching experience in a Public or Independent school setting; • Experience or training in differentiating teaching, learning, and assessment would be an asset; • Coaching qualifications and experience would be an asset; • Class 4 Licence and First Aid would be an asset; • Experience running sports activities and organizing events would be an asset. • French speaking would be an asset.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY: Candidates should have and may be assessed on their: • Experience and enthusiasm for running an athletics program and organizing field trips; • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of Yukon First Nations and a culturally diverse student population; • Ability to support and integrate self-regulation, mental wellness and trauma informed practices in the classroom and school setting; • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a professional team and a willingness to participate in the total school program to promote, support, and contribute to the overall school goals and initiatives; • A philosophy of inclusive education and ability to adapt, modify and implement curriculum to meet the needs of a diverse group of students; • Strong behaviour management, planning and organizational skills; • Ability to use technology as part of teaching, learning and assessment to increase engagement and enhance student learning; • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work positively and effectively with students, staff and the school community; • Willingness to live and work in a small, rural community. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: • To be a Teacher in Yukon, you must hold a Teacher Certification in another Canadian province/territory first; • Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check. • Relocation may be available.
