School: Whitehorse Elementary School, WhitehorsePosition: Teacher FTE: 1.0 TemporaryAssignment: Learning Assistance Literacy English and French Start Date: August 22, 2024 End Date: June 13, 2025 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience: Bachelor of Education or equivalent with coursework in special education; Experience supporting students literacy using structured literacy; Recent experience teaching in an elementary school setting; Experience teaching students with developmental and/or behavioral challenges; Experience implementing small group literacy interventions, screeners and assessments Fluent in English and FrenchDESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY: Candidates should have and may be assessed on their Strong ability to develop differentiated instructional opportunities for students and to collaborate with classroom teachers to do the same; Ability to effectively document students learning needs; A knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of the First Nations people of Yukon and a culturally diverse student population; Excellent communication skills to work with students, staff, parents, and the greater community in meeting the social, emotional, and academic needs of all students; Ability to engage and motivate students in the learning process; Experience using and integrating technology as part of teaching, learning and assessment.

Experience using assessment for learning strategies; Strong planning and organization skills;ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: As English is the administrative language in the Government of Yukon, your cover letter and resume must be submitted in English. To be a Teacher in Yukon, you must be certified in another Canadian province/territory first.
