Job Description
Our client is a growing accounting firm that is seeking a strong Senior Audit Consultant to join their growing team. As an established member of the assurance team, you will work closely with the managers and other senior members on executing assurance engagements, review & compilation engagements in addition to assisting with tax compliance & filings. You will excel in effective internal and external communication and will have a willingness for excellent client service.
Responsibilities
- Deliver quality audits and other services to public and privately owned middle market companies, not-for-profit organizations and governmental agencies.
- Undertake pre-audit planning and field work for engagements, reviewing client accounting and operating procedures.
- Assist clients with corporate tax planning, preparation, and compliance, ensuring adherence to Canadian tax laws and regulations.
- Oversee the preparation and filing of taxes for individuals and businesses, including T1, T2, T4ās and other relevant forms.
- Perform internal control testing and planning to support an audit opinion, including: preparing supporting work paper documentation, conducting analytical reviews of account balances and preparing financial statements.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage junior staff on engagements and provide mentorship & guidance to team members.
- Build relationships with existing clients, including involvement in networking and business development activities.
- Execute monthly accounting close procedures and assist with closing of the books for clients.
- Assist in the preparation of the monthly P&L, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows for clients.
- Ad-hoc analyses in support of the senior management team.
Skills and experiences
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting
- CPA designation (or in-progress) with a minimum of 3+ years within assurance in a Public Accounting firm.
- Ability to manage staff and lead engagements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Dedication and strong work ethic.
- Highly motivated individual with a desire for growth.
- Strength in timeāmanagement and selfāmotivation.
- Excellent client service skills with an aptitude to understand the clients' business and maintain strong client relationships.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis in Excel using pivot tables and v-lookups
