Position Summary
Equinox Engineering is seeking a Senior Civil / Structural Engineer to support the delivery of multi-disciplinary engineering projects across energy and industrial sectors. This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who enjoys hands-on design, problem-solving, and mentoring, while working closely with project teams and clients.
The successful candidate will contribute to projects from front-end engineering through detailed design and execution, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with applicable codes and standardsÂ
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute civil and structural engineering design for industrial, energy, and infrastructure projects
- Prepare and review calculations, drawings, specifications, and design reports
- Support FEED, detailed engineering, brownfield, and greenfield projects
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams including process, mechanical, piping, electrical, and project controls
- Review and check work completed by intermediate and junior engineers/designers
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members
- Interface with clients, vendors, and regulatory authorities as required
- Ensure designs comply with CSA, AISC, NBCC, ASCE, and other applicable codes and standards
- Participate in site visits, construction support, and field reviews as needed
- Support project delivery with a focus on safety, quality, schedule, and budget
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 10+ years of relevant civil/structural engineering experience
- P.Eng. designation with APEGA (or eligibility for registration)
- Strong experience in industrial facilities and/or above ground pipelines, including foundations, steel structures, pipe racks, equipment supports, and buildings
- Experience with brownfield modifications and greenfield developments
- Proficiency with engineering tools such as STAAD, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, or similar
- Strong understanding of Canadian codes and standards
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment
