Senior Electrical Engineer (P.Eng.) – Building Systems

We are working confidentially with several highly respected consulting engineering firms that are actively hiring Senior Electrical Engineers (P.Eng.) to support the growth of their building systems practices across multiple Ontario offices.

The Opportunity
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will lead and contribute to the design and delivery of electrical building systems for a diverse portfolio of projects, including commercial, institutional, industrial, and municipal facilities. The role offers exposure to complex projects and collaboration with multidisciplinary design teams.
Depending on experience and interest, the position may also include mentoring junior engineers, overseeing project delivery, and contributing to business development initiatives. Several firms also offer long-term flexibility and collaboration with GTA-based project teams as portfolios expand.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the design of electrical building systems, including power distribution, lighting, emergency power, and life safety systems
- Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports
- Coordinate with mechanical, structural, and architectural teams
- Interface directly with clients, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction
- Conduct site reviews and provide construction-phase support
- Mentor and support junior engineering staff
- Contribute to project planning, schedules, and budgets
- Support proposal development and client relationships as appropriate
Key Requirements
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Typically 10+ years of experience in consulting engineering
- Strong knowledge of Ontario Building Code, Electrical Safety Code, and relevant standards
- Proven experience delivering building electrical systems from design through construction
- Strong communication, leadership, and technical problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit experience considered an asset
- Experience with sustainable design, energy efficiency, or retrofit projects is an asset
