<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p><p>Senior Mechanical Designer / Engineer – Building Systems (MURBs)</p><p>Location: Waterloo/London </p><p>Work Model: Full time - In Office</p><p>Industry: Building Consulting Engineering</p><p>Project Focus: Multi-Unit Residential Buildings (MURBs)</p><p>About the Role</p><p>We are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer / Engineer with strong experience in Multi-Unit Residential Buildings (MURBs) for a client we&#39;ve partnered with.</p><p>Join a growing, collaborative consulting engineering team! This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both hands-on technical work and mentoring others, and who wants to play a key role in project delivery and team development.</p><p>You will be involved in the full lifecycle of mechanical design - from concept through construction - while providing technical leadership and guidance to junior and intermediate staff.</p><p>Key Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Lead mechanical design for MURB projects, including low-rise, mid-rise, and high-rise residential developments</li><li>Prepare and review mechanical drawings, layouts, and specifications for HVAC, plumbing, sanitary, and fire protection systems</li><li>Perform and review HVAC load calculations, ventilation calculations, and equipment sizing in accordance with ASHRAE standards</li><li>Ensure all designs comply with Ontario Building Code and applicable mechanical codes</li><li>Coordinate with architectural, structural, electrical, and civil teams to deliver fully integrated designs</li><li>Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and intermediate <span >designers/engineers</span></li><li>Support project management activities, including schedules, deliverables, and coordination meetings</li><li>Participate in construction administration, site reviews, and responding to RFIs and shop drawings as required</li></ul><p>Qualifications & Experience</p><ul><li>Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field</li><li>8+ years of experience in mechanical design within a building consulting engineering environment</li><li>Proven experience working on MURBs is required</li><li>Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, hydronic systems, ventilation, plumbing, and mechanical room layouts</li><li>Solid understanding of building codes, standards, and permitting processes</li><li>Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit</li><li>Experience performing and reviewing load calculations (HAP or similar software preferred)</li><li>P.Eng designation is an asset (or actively working toward licensure, where applicable)</li></ul><p>Soft Skills & Attributes</p><ul><li>Strong communication and collaboration skills</li><li>Ability to work independently while supporting a team environment</li><li>Mentorship mindset with a willingness to develop junior staff</li><li>Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities</li><li>Comfortable managing multiple projects and priorities</li></ul><p>What&#39;s Offered</p><ul><li>Opportunity to work on high-profile residential developments</li><li>Supportive, collaborative, multidisciplinary environment</li><li>Clear pathway for continued growth into senior technical or leadership roles</li><li>Competitive compensation and benefits package</li><li>Long-term stability with a firm that values experience and retention</li></ul><p>If you are interested and have experience with MURB projects, and enjoy this aspect of consulting - reach out to me with your resume and your project list: Jennifer Ramos, <span >jramos@talentsphere.ca</span></p></p></p>
