Overview
PagerDuty is seeking a Software Engineer II - PagerDuty Automation to join our diverse, customer-focused team. As a Software Engineer II, you will focus on automation everywhere, workflow automation, AI Agents, and the PagerDuty platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in TypeScript, Node, and React.
PagerDuty Workflow Automation empowers organizations to streamline and automate complex incident and operational workflows, reducing downtime and accelerating incident resolution. As a critical part of PagerDuty's platform, Workflow Automation integrates with existing tools, providing intuitive solutions that transform how teams respond to and manage incidents in real time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely across many different product development teams to validate and pressure test our new platform architecture, design, APIs, and user experience.
- Work with a wide range of systems, processes, and technologies to build solutions that solve customer problems.
- Prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a dynamic environment with a results-oriented mindset.
- Evaluate existing systems and processes to identify opportunities for improvements in efficiency, quality, and automation.
- Contribute to cross-team planning initiatives, influencing engineering direction, and communicating project status and timelines to stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in software engineering roles with progressive responsibilities.
- Experience in full-stack development using Node, TypeScript, and React. Plus, backend skills with one of Java, C#, Python, Elixir, or PHP.
- Experience working in an agile environment with iterative development and fast feedback.
- Strong experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
- Comfortable participating in PagerDuty's on-call rotation to ensure high availability of mission-critical systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with event-driven architectures, workflow engines, or automation platforms.
- Expertise in DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines (e.g., CircleCI/Buildkite, GitHub Actions).
- Ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences across the organization.
The base salary range for this position is 109,000 CAD - 165,000 CAD. This role may also be eligible for bonus, commission, equity, and/or benefits.
Our base salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range, which is subject to change based on primary work location, reflects the minimum and maximum base salary we expect to pay newly hired employees for the position. Within the range, we determine pay for an individual based on market location, job-related knowledge, skills/competencies and experience.
