Summary
The Surface HD Mechanic’s primary responsibility will focus on repairing, troubleshooting, adjusting, overhauling, and maintaining mobile heavy-duty equipment.
About Us
The Keno Hill mine, located within the Keno Hill Silver District in Canada’s Yukon Territory. Keno Hill, is one of the highest-grade silver districts in the world, is situated 350 kilometres north of Whitehorse, and lies within the traditional territory of the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyak Dun. It comprises 242 square kilometres (km2) with numerous mineral deposits and more than 35 historical past-producing mine sites. Keno Hill is expected to produce 2.7-3.0 million ounces of silver in 2024 as the mine ramps up production.

Here’s what you can expect in this role:
- Ability to safely maintain, troubleshoot and repair on and off-road, heavy-duty equipment including but not limited to, haul trucks, highway tractors, trailers, loaders, dozers, graders, etc.
- Test repaired equipment and maintain proper performance.
- Work with mobile planners to ensure work orders are completed with detail and found work can be planned and scheduled.
- Ordering and maintaining inventory.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- You will help to promote a strong environmental culture, promoting and teaching environmentally friendly values and work practices.
- You will help to foster a strong safety culture, promoting and exemplifying safe work practices throughout the organization.

Qualifications
- CVIP certificate required or able to obtain.
- Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic or Highway Truck Red Seal Certification preferred.
- 5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a remote camp environment.
- Electrical, hydraulic, engine and power train proficiency.
- Physically fit to perform the duties of the position.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
Safety, Health, Environmental Responsibilities and Accountabilities

- Disclosing all information regarding incidents and cooperating in incident investigations.
- Assisting in the resolution of health and safety matters in a positive and timely manner.
- Using and maintaining PPE.
- Providing suggestions for improving work processes.
- Assisting Management by supporting change to achieve desired targets.
- Ensuring that plant and equipment operate within their safe working limits.
- Ensuring that correct equipment is used for the job.
- Participating in risk assessment methodology.
- Participating in safety initiatives.
- Receiving training and instruction as required.
- Maintaining good housekeeping standards
Work Environment and Job Schedule
Employees will be frequently exposed to; outside weather conditions, snow conditions; extreme cold, extreme heat, potentially hazardous wildlife; moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. The noise level in most work environments is occasionally loud. This position will require you to work a rotating shift of 14 days on and 14 days off and you will be provided camp housing and meals.
