Location

This position is required to work in person at Tyandaga Golf Course. This position is required to work outdoors in all range of climate conditions. Work location is subject to change at the discretion of the City due to operational demands.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Tyandaga Golf Course through the Head Gardener/Landscaper, the Temporary Gardener/Landscaper will help to maintain all turf, irrigation, horticultural and landscape elements at Tyandaga Golf Course. This seasonal position will work up to 40 hours per week including some weekends and holidays and is expected to run for up to 8 months, April to November, subject to operational need.

Responsibilities

In consultation with the Manager, Tyandaga Golf Course and Head Gardener/Landscaper, the successful applicant will be responsible for daily maintenance tasks and monitoring turf for disease and infestation. Leading a crew or working independently, the incumbent will operate a variety of tools and equipment such as greens mowers, sprinklers, fairway mowers, tractors, bunker rakes, utility vehicles, aerators and sprayers including cleaning, setup and adjustments.

Requirements

You must have at least one year of experience in the maintenance of a golf course. A degree or diploma in turf management and a valid Ontario Exterminators License would be considered an asset. The successful applicant requires strong leadership skills.

A valid G driver's licence is required with an acceptable driver's abstract (no more than three (3) driving related convictions or an accumulation of no more than three (3) demerit points in the previous three (3) years prior to the date of hire).
