<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p><p><b>Description</b></p><p><strong>Your role at GEI. </strong></p><p> </p><p><p>The AI Architect is responsible for designing and leading AI-based solutions and services to select the optimal architecture for GEI’s priority digital and AI initiatives. This role owns the end-to-end solution architecture for AI and agent-based systems, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, and cost-effective while aligned with GEI governance, cloud, and data standards.</p><p> </p><p>The AI Architect translates business needs into practical AI solution designs across data, models, applications, and AI extensibility layers. This role plays a hands-on leadership role in active AI Solutions Factory use cases, guiding architectural decisions, identifying technical and operational risks, and defining mitigation strategies to ensure solutions are production-ready and sustainable.</p></p><p> </p><p><strong>Essential Responsibilities & Duties </strong></p><p><ul><li>Design and lead AI-based solutions and services, selecting optimal architectures aligned with GEI’s cloud, data, and security standards.</li><li>Define and maintain AI reference architecture patterns for platforms such as Azure AI, Azure OpenAI, Copilot extensions, and related integrations.</li><li>Lead solution architecture for priority AI use cases, including hands-on design, technical decision-making, and architecture reviews.</li><li>Identify technical, security, data, and delivery risks associated with AI solutions and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.</li><li>Embed Responsible AI principles into solution designs, including privacy, security, transparency, and model risk management.</li><li>Partner with GEI enterprise architecture, IT, and delivery teams to harmonize AI, cloud, and data standards.</li><li>Create and maintain architecture decision records, solution diagrams, and deployment guidance to support consistent implementation. </li></ul></p><p><strong>Minimum Qualifications </strong></p><p><ul><li>8+ years of experience in solution or enterprise architecture, including 3+ years in applied AI or machine learning solutions.</li><li>Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services, including Azure OpenAI, Copilot Studio, cognitive search, vector databases, and API integrations.</li><li>Strong understanding of identity, networking, data governance, and security within cloud-based environments.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to lead technical design discussions, manage stakeholders, and coach engineering teams. </li></ul></p><p><strong>We are GEI. </strong></p><p> </p><p>Some of the world’s most pressing problems – from climate change to sustainable development, to critical infrastructure and the future of our energy supply – need our brightest and diverse minds working together to create safer, more resilient communities for tomorrow.  </p><p> </p><p>We are technical experts, collaborators, and entrepreneurs who draw from diverse backgrounds to solve our clients’ most complex challenges.  </p><p> </p><p>With several offices across North America, we offer a range of engineering, science, and technical consulting services.
