This position is entitled to $1 shift premium amount per hour.</p><p><b>Join Our Team as anAssistant CNC Operator - Afternoon Shift (Co-op)!</b></p><p>The Assistant CNC Operator is responsible for setting up and performing basic maintenance of the CNC machine, following work orders to produce parts for our units according to S&C Safety Procedures and Quality standards.</p><p><b>Key Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li>Set up, adjust and operate CNC machine according to work orders and specifications.</li><li>Responsible for set up with minor program.</li><li>Use manual pump trucks, cranes (over head / jib) and lift devices as required to move material and finished product(s).</li><li>Monitor machine operation and perform trouble shooting tactics when necessary.</li><li>Ensure parts are manufactured in accordance with quality standards, target plans and verify correct run quantities.</li><li>Visually inspect parts after each machine cycle and perform inspections as required.</li><li>Optimize the running of parts to best take advantage of the machine’s operating time.</li><li>Filling out production boards with output for the shift as well as assisting in planning afternoon shift production.</li><li>Maintain cleanliness of work area and follow organizational practices.</li><li>Strives for continuous improvement in all aspects of the work environment.</li><li>Troubleshoot and resolve issues as required.</li><li>Other duties as assigned.</li><li>Perform all his duties following Health and Safety procedures, including but not limited to wear PPE, follow sanitization routines, etc.</li></ul><p><b>What you’ll Need To Succeed:</b></p><ul><li>In a registered co‑op program and eligible for the Summer 2026 work term.</li><li>Currently pursuing a post secondary education as a Mechanical Engineering Technician or related field.</li><li>Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment considered an asset.</li><li>Previous experience as a CNC Machine Operator considered an asset.</li><li>Ability to read and interpret blueprints.</li><li>Ability to use caliper, micrometer, go no‑go gauges, etc.</li><li>Excellent mechanical/mathematical aptitude and manual dexterity.</li><li>Good communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.</li><li>Ability to work in a fast‑paced work environment with minimal supervision.</li><li>Excellent organizational and time management skills.</li><li>Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.</li><li>Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles considered an asset.</li></ul><p><b>Physical demands:</b><br/><b>•</b> Standing: All tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.<br/>•Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs to 20 lbs.<br/>•Walking: Occasional walking moderate distances (less than 1km).<br/>•Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.<br/>•Pushing: Occasional pushing of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.<br/>•Pulling: Occasional pulling of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.<br/>•Bending: Frequent bending and crouching to safely lift parts of various sizes and shapes.<br/>•Reaching: Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees.<br/>•Handling: Continuous handling of parts ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.</p><p><b>Vacancy Disclosure:</b></p><p>This posting is to fill an existing vacancy within S&C Electric Canada.</p><p><b>Artificial Intelligence Disclosure:</b></p><p>Please note that S&C Electric Canada may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to assist in the screening, assessment, or selection of applicants for this position.</p><p><b>Why Work for S&C Electric Canada Ltd</b></p><p>With over 70 years of innovation in Canada and a century globally, S&C Electric is a trusted leader in power reliability.
