<p>We are looking for our next volunteer Board Member/Treasurer!</p><p><b>Organization:</b> Friends of the Ottawa Public Library</p><p><b>Commitment:</b> Two years</p><p><b>Availability:</b> Flexible, 1-5 hours per week</p><p><b>Number of Positions Available:</b> 1</p><p><b>Location:</b> Remote</p><p><b>Deadline:</b> March 15, 2025</p><p>The Friends of the Ottawa Public Library Association (FOPLA) was created in 2003 through the amalgamation of three library friends groups in Ottawa, Nepean, and Cumberland.</p><p>Since amalgamating, FOPLA has expanded from four bookstores to an organization with 30 sales outlets that has donated more than $4.5M to Ottawa’s public library system.</p><p>FOPLA has also provided $85,000 in library science scholarships and bursaries to University of Ottawa and Algonquin College students, with the goal of inspiring the next generation of library advocates.</p><h3>What are we looking for?</h3><p>We are currently looking for a volunteer to serve on our Board of Directors as Treasurer.</p><h3>Attributes:</h3><ul><li>Available to commit to volunteering for at least two years</li><li>Attention to detail and organized</li><li>Proven leadership skills</li><li>Strong relationship management skills</li><li>Finance and accounting experience or education</li><li>Team player</li></ul><h3>Nice to have:</h3><ul><li>Experience working with a not-for-profit or charitable organization</li><li>Experience as a member of a board of directors</li></ul><h3>Responsibilities:</h3><p>As Treasurer, you will oversee the treasury, tax, and financial management and reporting of the Friends of the Ottawa Public Library.</p><p>You provide financial advice to the President and Board of Directors and lead them in the annual budgeting process.</p><p>You guide and oversee the Finance Coordinator in the performance of their day-to-day financial and operational responsibilities.</p><p>You coordinate and support the annual financial audit by its Board-approved audit firm.</p><p>You ensure risk management and compliance of the FOPLA financial framework and internal control over its processes with maximum transparency and accountability.</p><p>Board of Director monthly meetings are held virtually.
