Our stability, resources, and respectful culture supports you in building a solid career with a great team you can count on day in and day out for the long term.</p><p>The<br>Materials Laboratory Technician/Technologist<br>will provide technical support, perform various tasks to test, analyze materials and evaluate results, conduct materials/metallurgical analysis utilizing advanced analytical techniques, determine failure mechanisms, document findings, and prepare reports for internal and external customers.</p><p>What You'll Do</p><ul><li>Collecting samples, conducting standardized tests, operating specialized equipment.</li><li>Preparation of samples for metallographic analysis including sectioning, mounting, polishing, etching and electro-etching.</li><li>Assisting in preparation of detailed Test Plans and Work Scope proposals, including resources and timeline, in collaboration with cross-functional teams.</li><li>Performing routine to complex metallurgical tests according to prescribed procedures.</li><li>Providing technical support, performing analysis and preparation of technical reports for materials/metallurgical analysis of engine parts.</li><li>Assisting in the interpretation of materials test results and advising on appropriate laboratory analytical techniques to be used for failure analysis, research, development of new repairs and/or on-going support.</li><li>Scheduling and prioritizing production and project work.</li><li>Ensuring compliance to the applicable internal and external requirements.</li><li>Participating in proactive risk analysis of flight/product safety critical parts and processes.</li><li>Maintaining accurate laboratory records necessary for the quality, regulatory and contractual needs of the company.</li><li>Tracking progress on tests, analysis, experiments and recording findings in database.</li><li>Ensuring traceability of communication and distribution of test results.</li><li>Working with the laboratory team on purchasing consumables, preventive maintenance and equipment calibration activities, including purchase orders, expenditure authorizations, cost benefit analyses, and procurement specifications.</li><li>Carrying out special projects as assigned.</li></ul><p>What Skills You Will Use</p><ul><li>High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy and precision.</li><li>Working knowledge of Precision Measuring Equipment.</li><li>Ability to read, understand, and interpret Work Instructions.</li><li>Recording data, technical writing, and preparation of reports.</li><li>Adherence to safety protocols.</li></ul><p>Preferred Skills</p><ul><li>Detail-oriented Failure Analysis</li><li>Failure Mode Testing</li><li>Root Cause Analysis</li><li>SEM/EDS Analysis</li><li>Material Characterization</li><li>Data Analysis</li><li>Critical Thinking</li><li>Cross-Functional Collaboration</li><li>Effective Communication – Written and Oral</li><li>College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent.</li><li>Experience in a Metallurgical and/or Materials Laboratory environment.</li><li>Experience within an Aerospace or Manufacturing setting.</li></ul><p>Benefits That Make Life Better</p><ul><li>Comprehensive Health and Dental insurance</li><li>Pension Plan with 100% company match; up to 5%</li><li>Paid Time Off starting on day one</li><li>Bonus opportunities</li><li>Short- & Long-Term Disability</li><li>Learning & Training opportunities</li></ul><p>Raising the Standard of Excellence since 1911<br>With over a century of proven excellence, StandardAero has become an industry leader in MRO services and customized solutions in the aerospace field.
