Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist – LOCUM TENENS


Description


Shared Health (1502-155 Carlton Street, Winnipeg MB, R3C 5R9) and The University of Manitoba, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences invite applications for a Maternal‑Fetal Medicine (MFM) Specialist.


The successful candidate will provide clinical care and contribute to academic excellence in the management of high‑risk pregnancies. The position requires expertise in both high‑risk maternal care and fetal medicine, including fetal health surveillance and prenatal diagnosis. Job duties are required in English.


Clinical Responsibilities



  • Conduct Fetal Assessment outpatient clinics at St. Boniface Hospital, providing tertiary‑level ultrasound services and counselling

  • (Optional) to participate in after‑hours obstetrical call through an affiliated group

  • Participate in after‑hours MFM call for urgent consultations


Academic Appointment


The MFM Section supports fellowship training. The successful candidate will be eligible for academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer with the Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba.


Academic Responsibilities



  • Teach fellows in the clinical setting. Classroom teaching opportunities may be available, upon request


Qualifications



  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (specialist registry in Obstetrics & Gynecology)

  • Graduation from an RCPSC accredited Maternal‑Fetal Medicine Fellowship program

  • Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or eligibility for residency

  • Eligibility for privileges with Shared Health and faculty appointment at the University of Manitoba


Compensation



  • Base compensation: Locum physicians will be remunerated through Fee‑for‑Service (FFS) billings, in accordance with the Manitoba Physician’s Manual.

  • Supplement: In addition to FFS earnings, locums are eligible for the MFM Supplement, which aligns with the current provincial remuneration model for Maternal‑Fetal Medicine specialists.

  • Income guarantee: A minimum daily income guarantee of $4,000 will be provided.

  • After‑hours coverage: Locums who provide after‑hours or on‑call coverage are eligible for an additional stipend in accordance with departmental and Shared Health policies.
