Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projets are undertaking the design, build, and finance of the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel (South Civil) package.

As Ontario Transit Group, we are now mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.

The project will strengthen Ontario’s economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.

What is the project?

  • A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River).
  • Stations:
    • One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station.
    • Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations.
    • Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown).

Job Description

The Project Coordinator supports the successful execution of large‑scale construction projects by coordinating all activities related to the procurement, fabrication, delivery, and installation of approximately 4,000 tons of structural steel. This role provides detailed project analysis, maintains documentation, and ensures timely communication with stakeholders, vendors, and internal teams. The coordinator oversees the shop drawing approval process, tracks material availability, conducts fabrication‑facility visits, and verifies both progress and quality against project schedules and Inspection & Test Plans. 

The salary range for this position is $80,000 CAD - $110,000 CAD, plus additional benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide management with accurate project data, performance metrics, and analytical reports.
  • Review contract documents, construction drawings, and specifications; prepare procurement lists and manage RFIs, Change Orders, permitting requirements, and traffic/land-use documentation as needed.
  • Monitor and report on productivity, cost performance, and progress for the Ontario Line South project.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, vendors, and owners to communicate project status and schedule updates.
  • Prepare, review, and present job-cost reports to management.
  • Contribute data and insights for month-end financial reconciliation.
  • Maintain organized project files, documentation, and correspondence.
  • Assist in the coordination, preparation, and submission of as-built drawings and design documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, and internal departments.
  • Perform various administrative functions in support of project objectives.
  • Work efficiently and maintain accuracy in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
  • Coordinate and monitor the issuance, review, and approval process for structural steel shop drawings.
  • Ensure raw materials are procured and delivered in alignment with project schedules and sequencing requirements.
  • Conduct regular factory and fabrication‑facility visits; document findings through detailed inspection and progress reports.
  • Review supplier progress reports and verify accuracy against project milestones.
  • Monitor manufacturing activities to ensure full compliance with the approved time schedule.
  • Verify quality compliance throughout all fabrication phases and participate in all stages of the Inspection & Test Plan (ITP) process.
Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural/Construction Technology, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in structural steel fabrication or manufacturing.
  • Background in construction, engineering, or transportation‑related projects.
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and work with construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word) and project management software such as MS Project.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly self‑motivated with strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
  • Capable of working accurately under pressure and managing multiple priorities.
  • Flexible and able to adjust work hours as needed to meet project deadlines.
  • Effective team player with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and with external partners.
