Maples Surgical Centre, a division of Clearpoint Health Network is recruiting for an experienced Registered Nurse- OR Full Time.<br><em>Specialties include Orthopaedics, Gynecology, Plastics, ENT, Urology, Pediatrics, Spine, Cosmetics and others as required.<br></em><br>
Position Summary <br><br>
The Registered Nurse (RN), provides a wide variety of nursing services to patients and families.  The RN uses standard nursing processes including: thorough critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teaches, counsels and advocates on behalf of patients and their families.  The RN acts in accordance the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Manitoba standards and scope of practice, the Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada standards and scope of practice, and in accordance with facility policies and procedures. The RN possesses the related education and clinical experience to assess, treat and educate patients undergoing a wide variety of surgical procedures. <br><br>Key Responsibilities <ul><li>Collaborates with all members of the health care team.</li><li>Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies, medication administration and storage procedures and controlled substances regulations.</li><li>Documents patient care appropriately in the medical record.</li><li>Participates cooperatively and communicates effectively with team members</li><li>Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.</li><li>Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and participating in professional societies.</li><li>Participates in educational programs as required.</li><li>Assists with the orientation and support for new staff to the facility.</li><li>Performs related duties as assigned by leader.</li><li>Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures.</li></ul>
Minimum Requirements<ul><li>RN with current Certificate of Registration issued by the College of Nurses of Manitoba</li><li>Operating Room certification from an accredited program– Certificate required</li><li>Current BCLS certification is required</li><li>Proven focus to provide excellent patient care, in a supportive and culturally sensitive manner</li><li>Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary team of care providers, with emphasis on assessment, education, prevention, maintenance, and restoration of patient health</li></ul>
Qualifications<ul><li>2-4 years' recent experience in an acute care setting in the operating room/ambulatory care environment that includes but not limited to assisting, scrubbing/circulating in the operating room, and ambulatory services</li><li>Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) perioperative nursing certification preferred. Completion of a recognized operating room course or a combination of education and experience.</li><li>Ability to work independently within the surgical/ambulatory services environment to maintain patient flow</li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of surgical/ambulatory procedures (including set up) and the continuum of care for the surgical patient that includes the pre-intra-post operative patient experience</li><li>Must be capable to set up and care for minor and major surgical procedures and anticipate the needs of patients and physicians</li><li>Proven motivation to pursue educational goals</li><li>Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a highly skilled interdisciplinary team</li><li>Implement plan of care including independent and interdependent nursing functions</li><li>Assessing and understanding the unique needs of the surgical patients</li><li>Strong proficiency and willingness to work at the full scope of practice (as outlined by CRNM)</li></ul>
